Homeless or At Risk of Homelessness

Local Resources. Local Help.

When hardships arise, there is a network of support available to help you get back on track.

Individuals may not apply directly to the Iowa Finance Authority for assistance. If you are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk of becoming homeless, we encourage you to contact Coordinated Entry via the online portal or phone number listed on this page.

Please note that housing resources provided through Coordinated Entry are limited and can only be used for individuals who meet the eligibility criteria. Therefore, completing an assessment does not guarantee housing. To qualify for Coordinated Entry, individuals or families must fall into one of the categories below:

  • Literally Homeless
    • This includes sleeping outdoors or another place not meant for human habitation, in an emergency shelter, or leaving a program/institution without a fixed housing destination
  • At Imminent Risk of becoming Homeless
    • You will lose housing in the next 14 days, have nowhere else to go, and cannot obtain other housing without assistance.
  • Fleeing or Attempting to Flee from Domestic Violence
    • This includes fleeing from sexual assault, stalking, or other dangerous conditions related to violence making it unsafe to return to your primary residence.
